Overboard with food

Cook potatoes and try ham if your constitution can take it.
They are the cheapest things and are amazingly versatile.
Boil and mash potatoes, use a food-pro/mixer-blender thing if you can, put in the desired amount spice and salt, and eat for breakfast or something.
And steam/boil veggies and then do things (fry/roast/etc). Easier faster and quite a bit easier to digest.
Don’t throw away the stock. Use it to cook stuff, rice, add as gravy fluid. Food will get markedly different flavor.
Add a little(very little) oil to your rice pot. You’ll get nice non-sticky rice.
Bread (which is normally the cheapest staple in most places) goes nice with boiled veggies/meat and roast sauces (things that you make from sauted spices and stock).
