Cameras

This is some advice that I can offer for people who want to take pictures, and would be somewhat the starting point of more elaborate advice that I could give you.

The following are two series of camera’s that I would suggest for people who want to do anything more than just take pictures of bunches of friends:

  • The Fuji S5*** Series -
  • The current version on this is the S5500. The camera is more along the lines of an SLR design and is pleasant to hold and use. Has full manual control (which I normally make full use of) and has easy to use automatic modes. In my experience, Fujis give much better depth in the colour. Only drawback, is that it has no Sepia mode, and the only way you can get Sepia is by postprocessing, which is not ideal. (For those who don’t know, Sepia is what makes pictures look like this.)
  • The Canon Powershot A* Series -
  • The current model on this series is the A95. The camera is small and nice to use. There might be a lot of noise at the ISO400 pseudo-speed-setting, but otherwise nice and easy to use. Easy to use, and also has full manual control. Most of my pictures are taken with an A70,(atleast the ones that I put up) that belongs to this fellow. My suggestion for a family camera.
