The requirement is of course my first act of Linux evangelism. The distribution in itself might need a bit of polish and maturity, but they have come a long way in terms of bringing the advantages of the Debian model to user-friendly distribution. And the most appealing fact is the laptop-friendliness of the distribution. Apart from a few hiccups, the installation is quite a breeze. And leaves you with a pretty usable system. I don’t think this is yet so good as to convince some people back home to move to Linux, but I am pretty certain that the Live CDs will raise some eyebrows.
Of course, needless to say that this has also heralded a couple of other things on my computer. One, I can now easily access my iPod (not the pictures yet, but will figure that out soon as well!). Will have to find if I can go back to FreeBSD (now that 6.0 is out) and expect the USB PnP to work. But am not going to devote any resources to this right now. The other thing is the little blogging unit that I have running off my desktop (which is in fact being to used to author this post). Should find it much easier to blog now. If only those pathetic morons at rediff.com decided to activate my website!!!
Have a few exams coming up and the second stage submission for my final year project. Ill health and misfortune notwithstanding, the next week promises to be fun. Let’s see.
